Head Chef Geo

Head Chef Geo

Born in Brazil in 1988, Geo Bassani Lima left his sporting career in his home country to pursuit his dream of becoming a professional chef in London.
In 2008, he arrived in the UK and, within five days, was working in a professional kitchen.

After a couple years of practising his culinary skills in different cuisines, Geo had the opportunity to work under some very talented Head Chefs while being hired at Youngs Brewery/Geronimo Inns. That was how he became one of their Sous Chefs, which gave him the opportunity to open a couple of sites for the company.
After two years under the direction of some top chefs, he decided that it was time to run his own kitchen. The chance to do so arose at the Star & Anchor in West Ealing, where he helped to create an exciting food concept and had the first article written about him and the restaurant within his first year in charge of the kitchen.
In 2014, Geo became the Head Chef and General Manager on a mission to transform one of the worst pub restaurants in South East England into a top destination for foodies around Surrey and surrounding areas.

Full of passion, enthusiasm and with very high standards in the kitchen, Geo has since won various awards and continues to welcome and impress diners in his restaurant on a daily basis.

Geo bagged his first award within 18 months when he led The Hampton to win The Good Food Award 2015, out of 491,779 competing restaurants.

Later that year, Geo was nominated by MP Dr Tania Matias to represent her constituency at the Chef of the Year competiton 2016. He was voted as one of the the top 50 chefs in the country overall and into the top 20 chefs in the under 30 category.

At the beginning of the year, The Hampton was awarded the Good Food Award 2016, this time competing with over 500,000 restaurants in the UK. In June, he was awarded the Certificate of Excellence 2016 by Tripadvisor for maintaining the position at the top of their rankings.

In November 2016, competing against 512,134 contestants, Geo led The Hampton to further success by winning it the Gold Good Food Award 2017, being the only gastropub in London to hold this title.

Geo has also won awards for his Sunday Roasts for 2015 and 2016 in Richmond, South West London and Surrey.

Recently he has been highlighted by the media in Brazil for his achievements in the UK as being the first Brazilian chef to win the Good Food Award for three consecutive years.
